About Expert Approach

Senior technical judgment, directly accountable to the work.

Expert Approach is a principal-led software and cybersecurity firm for organizations that need specialized systems—and a technical partner who remains responsible for the result.

The company

Built for complex, long-lived systems.

LD Herrera founded Expert Approach in 2006 to help organizations solve operational problems with technology shaped around their work. The company designs, modernizes, secures, and supports custom platforms for registration, learning, membership, research, administration, data, and reporting.

The delivery model is intentionally direct. Discovery, architecture, technical decisions, security, and continuity stay connected under senior leadership instead of being passed through layers of sales and handoffs.

That approach is especially valuable when software carries years of institutional knowledge, recurring program obligations, sensitive records, or public trust.

Experience

More than 35 years across technology and operations.

LD’s work spans software architecture and development, cybersecurity, privacy, infrastructure, data systems, research platforms, organizational operations, and technology leadership. That range helps connect the technical decision to the business process, risk, user, and long-term maintenance burden behind it.

Current areas of focus

  • Secure custom application development and modernization
  • Cybersecurity operations and evidence discipline
  • Privacy-aware systems and responsible data use
  • Research infrastructure, evidence synthesis, and responsible AI
  • Human factors in cyber-enabled harm

Research and education

Technical practice strengthened by research and teaching.

LD is an Adjunct Assistant Professor of cybersecurity and the founder and lead researcher of the Romance Scam Research Center. Current work examines cyber-enabled interpersonal harm, human factors, research quality, and responsible uses of AI in evidence systems.

Evidence over assumption

Research and technical decisions should remain traceable to their sources, constraints, and review.

Security as ongoing work

Risk changes after launch, so review, remediation, documentation, and accountability must continue.

Technology in service of people

A system succeeds when it helps users carry out important work accurately, safely, and sustainably.

Work directly with senior technical leadership.

Bring the operation, the legacy system, or the risk that needs a durable answer.
